Cathy Kennedy Harvey's unique background allows her to ensure that her clients experience "smooth sailing" throughout the real estate process.
Born in Santa Monica, California, Cathy lived with her family in southern and northern California, South Dakota, Kentucky and Louisiana while growing up. In 1981, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from California State University at Dominguez Hills.
Cathy was first introduced to Newport in 1986 when she sailed onboard the 80' maxi yacht Kialoa IV. She fell in love with Narragansett Bay and Newport became her home after five years sailing to the grand prix maxi racing ports of call. She joined Team Dennis Conner in 1990 and for 15 years traveled the world, supporting the America’s Cup and Round the World Race teams. Always returning to her home in Newport between events, she became very familiar with Newport's charms and its reputation as the sailing capital of the world.
In 2004, Cathy permanently dropped anchor in Newport and embarked on her professional career in real estate, which allowed her to combine the logistics of housing and moving teams and families under stressful conditions while interacting with sponsors and race management.
Cathy's clients rely on her expertise and ability to weather the sometimes difficult and stormy real estate process, which has permitted her to be a consistent multi-million dollar producer. A Broker Associate, Cathy is also an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR). This designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation and is awarded to real estate practioners who meet stringent educational and practical experience criteria. In addition, Cathy has earned the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation, which has prepared her to address the special needs of maturing clients by providing them with the best sources of information and options when making life-changing decisions.
Cathy continues to support Narragansett Bay sailing and is serving her second term on the Sail Newport Board of Directors, helping to make the joy of sailing available to as many children as possible. She is also an avid golfer and enjoys starting her summer days on the links.
